Peermade (Hill Station)
On the way to Thekkady, Peermade is a small hill station. It is a fertile
land at an altitude of 914 meters. Formerly the summer palaces of Travancore
Rajas this tiny and cool hill station is full of rubber, tea, coffee, pepper
and cardamom plantation, interspersed with waterfalls and open grasslands.
Ramakalmedu
The rolling green hills and fresh mountain air make Ramakalmedu and
enchanting retreat. The hilltop also offers a panoramic view of the
picturesque villages of Bodi and Kambam, on the eastern slope of the
western. Ramakalmedu is situated 16kms from Nedumkandam.
Kozhikode (Calicut)
Vellarimala
Vellarimala in the hilly reaches of Kozhikode district is a pristine place,
not crowded by tourists. The place is ideal for relaxing, taking your
spirits through the meandering natural beauties from dawn to dusk. The
Kanjirapuzha, tributary of the River Chaliyar, takes a winding path through

Kannur
Ezhimala (Hillock)
55 kms from Kannur town, at a height of 885 feet is Ezhimala, an isolated
but conspicuous cluster of hills. At the foot of the hill are a cave and an
old burial chamber. Further up the hills is an ancient mosque where
beautiful sculptured stone pillars are seen. The combination of high hills
and the sandy beach nearby makes Ezhimala a lovely picnic spot. This hillock
and its surrounding areas are well known for a rare medicinal herb used for
Ayurvedic formulations. This wonderful hilly place has been identified for a
million rupee projects to house the Country's and Asia's largest Naval
Academy.

65 kms from Kannur town, this enchanting hill station, situated 4,500 feet
above sea level near the Kerala-Karnataka border, is rich in flora and

Kottayam
Ayyampara
43 kms from Kottayam, this is a well known scenic spot of rocky plains,
where a 100 acres of flat rock makes a natural granite stadium to enjoy the
sunset and the view of the town below. It is a good place for trekking.
Elaveezhapoonchira (mountains)
Elaveezhapoonchira, formed of imposing mountain ranges with rocky cliffs is
on the eastern periphery of Kottayam district. It is a beautiful picnic
spot, accessible from Pala, located in the middle of hillocks. About 3000
feet above sea lever, the pristine beauty of nature is preserved almost
intact here. There is also a famous ancient mosque at Thazhathanangady near
Thalikotta Palace, which attracts many devotees.
Grampi (hill station)
The picturesque hill station of Grampi, situated 5 kms from Peerumade is
also known as the Parunthupara, meaning the eagle rock.
Koottickal
Situated in the western ghats, 5 kms north of Mundakayam in Kottayam
district, is Koottickal .The majesty of the mountain ranges combined with
the beauty of the forest and the artificial lake created by the check dam of
the River Manimala makes the spot linger in ones mind. Amruthameda, which is
famous for medicinal plants, is nearby. Koottickal is well connected by
roads to the main cities. The waterfall at Vadakkemala, near Kootickal is
another attraction.
Panchalimedu
Situated 7 kms from Muundakkayam - Kuttikanam stretch on the Kottayam -
Kumali road, lies Panchalimedu at an altitude of about 2500 feet above sea
level. A 3-hour trek from Valliankavu, also connected by bus service from
Kottayam. According to legends, the Pandavas had stayed here and the pond
beside a small temple is where Panchali, their wife is said to have had
bath.
Peerumedu
Peerumedu is a small hill station, snuggled at an altitude of 914 m above
sea level, on way to Thekkady. The famous plantation town takes its name
from Peer Mohammad, a Sufi saint and close associate of the erstwhile royal
family of Travancore.
Wagamon (Trekker's Paradise)
Situated at an elevation of 1100 metres above sea level, Wagamon is called
the trekker's paradise because it is an ideal place for trekking and a
beautiful tourist spot surrounded by the greenery of tea plantations,
meadows, valleys and dales. It is about 60 km from Kottayam. The other
attraction of this place is Kurisumala, a sky-scraping mountain with a small
church on its peak. There is also a monastery on this hill, called
Kurisumala Ashramam, which has a small community of ascetics who follow
Christian faith but combines with it the Indian spiritual traditions and
Gandhian thoughts. People of all faith are welcome to visit this place.
Palakkad (Palghat)
Nelliyampathy
75Kms from Palakkad, Nelliyampathy is a forest range, which comprises a
chain f ridges cut off from one another by valleys of dark evergreen forests
of the Sahya Range in which can be found very valuable teak of
extra-ordinary height and girth. At a height of 1467 to 1572 meters above
sea level is a fascinating hill station with cool climate, which offers a
panoramic view of about one third of Palakkad. The hilly countryside is
delight to trekkers. The tourism promotion board of Palakkad, offers
accommodation in the tourist resort with all facilities. On the way to
Nelliampathy about 17 kms en-route, there is a dam and a park at Pothundy.

Agasthyakoodam (famous peak)
About 1869 metres above sea level, Agasthyakoodam is a prominent peak in the
Sahyadari ranges of the Western Ghats and can be approached on foot from
Bonacadu, which is 61 kms away from Thiruvananthapuram. Tradition says that
the great sage, Agasthya, had his abode in this peak. The place is also
noted for its abundant Ayurvedic herbs.
Ponumudi (Hill Station Holiday tour Packages)

peak is one of the risky tourist endeavors. There are temporary camps on the
top of this peak. District Tourism Promotion Council provides guides,
sleeping bags, canvass huts trekking implements on hire charges to the
tourists. The Scenic beauty of Wayanad district is visible from the top of
this peak. The lake at the top of the hill never dries up. All along the
steep and slippery way to the top of the hill, the whispering of the flowing
spring, which sprouts from the top of the hill, accompanies the tourist
Lakkidi Ghat Pass
At an elevation of 700m above mean sea level, Lakkidi Ghat Pass is the Gate
Way of Wayanad above the Thamarassery Ghat Pass of western ghats. Deep
valley to the south with winding roads through thick forest is the major
attraction of the pass. It is 55 kms east of Kozhikode and 5 kms south of
Vythiri.
Pakshipathalam
Pakshipathalam in Bramha Giri hills is situated 7kms north east of
Thirunelly. This picturesque bird watching centre is located at a formidable
height of 1740 m above sea level. One has to trek 17 kms through wild forest
to reach 'Pakshipathalam'. The deep rock caves at the northern top end of
the Brahmagiri is the habitat of a number of rare species of birds.
Tusharagiri
Famous for its trekking tracks, Tusharagiri is located near Vythiri in
Wayanad.
